Lake Bleu draws its name from the woodland backdrop that fills with wonderful bluebells in April every year!
It’s fish stocks are larger than those you would normally find in the UK or most of France, containing plenty of catfish,
with the average weight being 74lbs+ and the lake record of 2014 being 121.5lbs. This lake is renowned for the quality
and quantity of fish that can be landed, with weekly catches of over 2000lbs not uncommon. Feature laden, the 5
anglers it can accommodate can choose from gravel bars, an island, overhanging trees and beautiful lily patches to fish to.
During a lake drain and stock take of Bleu in November 2010 a Catfish of an estimated weight of between 140 and 160lbs was lifted out of the net by three people. He or she was deliberately not weighed, and is now known between anglers as ‘The Red October’. We offer to anglers a bottle of Champagne for any verified 100lb+ catfish and for the first person to land the ‘The Red October’ next years holiday will be free. The hunt is on…
Bleu is a favourite with loads of our customers who come back year after year for the personal best beating fish not to mention the sheer beauty of the surroundings! Last season alone (2015), we had at least 5 different 100lbs+ specimen caught and landed from Bleu. This doesn’t include the ever illusive ‘Red October’ which at least three of our Catfish fishermen claim to have been snapped up by in the last four months of the season.
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ALLOW CARP FISHING ON LAKE BLEU!
A rowing boat is included in the price of your holiday as are weigh slings and weighing equipment, and unhooking mats for all swims. Gloves are also provided which we recommend you use, but if it’s a landing net you prefer please bring these with you (we do not provide catfish landing nets).
You have the sole use of the lakeside cabin, containing a gas supply, cooker, fridge, separate bait fridge, cooking utensils (pots and pans etc), crockery and a sink. We also provide you with a picnic bench and table. We allow a maximum of six people on this holiday with five anglers fishing on the lake at any one time (12 rods maximum).
